Can you really judge a dog's health by feeling if his nose is wet, dry, cold or warm?
The condition of the dog's nose is a highly unreliable indicator of his overall health. Wet, dry, cold or warm are conditions perfectly normal dog noses go through every day. Significant indicators of a health problem include a colored discharge from the nostrils, nosebleeds, or a nostril being blocked by dried mucus, and indicate a need for an examination by one of our doctors. Better indications of a pet's illness are lethargy, lack of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea and excessive sleeping. If you notice these symptoms in your pet, you should schedule an examination with one of the Windmill Animal Hospital doctors as soon as possible.
